This summer, New Jersey Youth Soccer launched the first-ever Skills Challenge for youth players of the Garden State to showcase their skills in three different challenges: passing, dribbling and shooting. Following the success of this event, US Youth Soccer (USYS) sought to bring the program to all states around the country.
This fall, Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA) partnered with member clubs to introduce an adaptation of the Skills Challenge to Virginia Recreational players. Thanks to the generosity of US Youth Soccer, Virginia Youth Soccer Association was able to partner with six member clubs to add the Skills Challenge to an existing recreational event or tournament this fall season. Participating clubs include Loudoun Soccer, Arlington Soccer Association, Northern Virginia Soccer Club, Richmond Strikers, Alexandria Soccer Association and Herndon Youth Soccer.
Arlington Soccer Association | Soccer-thon
Loudoun Soccer | Fall Festival
Richmond Strikers | Capital Fall Classic
Alexandria Soccer Association | Alexandria Harvest Cup
Northern Virginia Soccer Club | Fall Classic Recreational Tournament
Herndon Youth Soccer | Herndon All-Star Cup
Virginia Youth Soccer Association looks forward to launching this initiative with Arlington Soccer Association Soccer-thon on October 10th, 2022.
VYSA is appreciative of all member clubs participating in this new endeavor and look forward to the possibility of expanding to include more clubs in the spring!
