The primary mission is to identify elite level Region I players and facilitate their selection to the U.S. National Team programs. The selection process takes place through state, regional, and national trials. The primary benefit to the player is to be able to try out, train, and play against the best players in their age group, allowing the best players to further their development as soccer players. Regional pools are selected at the conclusion of camp.

Region I Policy and Procedure Regarding Players Selected to Regional Pools and Events
Players selected to the regional pools in July must play in there state ODP the following year to be eligible to participate in any Regional international or domestic event, both boys and girls.
Each state will be sent a list via email after regional camp listing the players who have been selected to their age group pool.
The state association will communicate to the Region 1 ODP Director that all players are registered with their state ODP program after each states respective tryout period for Region 1 to enforce this rule.
The first regional events happen in November. Some states do not complete try outs by this time, so a player selected to the pool in July must be registered for the upcoming year to be allowed to participate in any Regional event in November.
The only exception to this rule will be if a state association does not have an age group for the player the following year, (some states do not have a U17 program). The player will then be allowed to participate in Regional events for the upcoming year.
A list of players selected for events will also be sent to you and posted on our Region I website. If at any time a player is listed and not participating in your state ODP program, they will not attend the event and be removed from the regional pool.
