Publix Partners with Virginia Youth Soccer Association
Training Facility Renamed the Publix Virginia Soccer Training Center
FREDERICKSBURG, VA, October 15, 2016
Publix Super Markets, Inc. today announced that it has signed with the Virginia Youth Soccer Association (VYSA), making it the company’s seventh youth soccer partnership to date. Furthermore, it was announced that VYSA’s Virginia Soccer Training Center located at 1898 Mills Drive in Fredericksburg has officially been renamed the Publix Virginia Soccer Training Center.
According to the American Heart Association, childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. Obesity now affects 1 in 3 children and adolescents in the United States.
Kim Reynolds, Publix’s Charlotte Division Media and Community Relations Manager said: “With childhood obesity continuing to rise, it’s important to create awareness of the value of good nutrition and how participating in youth soccer can help reduce the risk of childhood obesity and improve overall health. We’re excited to partner with VYSA and together, provide opportunities for youth across Virginia to be active and gain skills they can use throughout their lives.”

Beginning in 2017, Publix will be the presenting sponsor of VYSA’s State Cup and the Virginia Futsal Championships. The Publix partnership with VYSA will also include donations of Publix branded 10x10 EZ Up tents, flags, banners and coolers to local VYSA leagues.
In addition to VYSA, Publix is the official supermarket of Youth Soccer Associations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina.
Publix has announced that it will begin opening stores in Virginia in 2017.
