The two classroom sessions, “Pros and Cons of Different Midfield Shapes” and “Qualities of the Best Midfielders in the World”, featured group work with coaches working on the qualities of different types of midfielders and the strengths and weaknesses of different systems. Four field sessions – “Playing in Tight Spaces”, “Showing for the Ball”, “Defending in the Midfield”, and “Switching the Point of Attack” - were also part of the course. A special thanks goes to FC Richmond for sending their State Cup Finalist team.
Gordon Miller, VYSA Technical Director and one of the Clinic instructors, stated, "It’s great to see coaches from Richmond, Fauquier, DC, Loudoun and everywhere in between taking the time out to gain more coaching education. This type of one-off clinic is important for coaches to continue their growth between their formal coaching licenses. It gives them a chance to acquire specific detail on a key position without having the stress of going through testing."
This clinic will be scheduled in different areas of the state. Please check the VYSA website for details.
