SECRETARY’S REPORT
George Sadler reported that Rivanna River Soccer Club, Fluvanna County had applied for membership in VYSA. He recommended they be approved for membership. A motion was made and seconded to approve the Rivanna River Soccer Club for membership in VYSA. The motion passed.
He reported that Southside Soccer Club had also applied for membership in VYSA. He noted it was the same name as a former member of VYSA, but was not the same club. This club is loacated in Pittsylvania County near Danville. He recommended they be approved for membership. A motion was made and seconded to approve Southside Soccer Club for membership in VYSA. The motion passed.
STATE ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
Julie Caramanica reported that, Back of the Net, the company that had been the VYSA official goal sponsor, was no longer in business. She distributed a new proposal from a goal sponsor for review and consideration at the next Board meeting.
Julie noted a correction to the previous minutes regarding the new VYSA policy adopted on roster limitations. She noted that the policy includes the following:
VYSA teams applying to tournaments must make sure the copy of their league roster submitted to the tournament meets rostering requirements of the tournament; and, a VYSA Travel league may have additional restrictions on roster size.
Chesterfield Soccer Club reported to the VYSA State Office that their tournament had contracted with Novelty Pictures, owned by Rowdy & Kelly Duhon of Abbeville, Louisanna, to allow them to sell photographs at the tournament. They have 15 or 20 teams that placed orders and paid for photographs with this company and have not yet received their merchandise. The police of Abbeville have been contacted and were well aware of complaints for this business. The president of Chesterfield asked that VYSA members be warned not to do business with this company.
It was reported that Women’s World Cup will be held in the US this fall. Information on tickets and schedules will be posted on the web site.
US Youth Soccer has announced that TruGreen is now the official sponsor as the "Exclusive Lawn Care, Turf Care and Landscape Maintenance Provider".
Soccer America along with Eurosport is now providing the Soccer America Camp Directory free online to download and print.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 1:25 pm.
