February 2007 Semi AGM Minutes

VYSA SEMI ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

February 10, 2007

The Semi Annual General Meeting of the Virginia Youth Soccer Association, Inc. was called to order by President Denise Edwards at the Richmond Center at 2:00 pm.

Representatives from each of the following members were present: Alexandria Soccer Association, Amelia Independent Youth Soccer, Burke Athletic Club, Chesapeake United Soccer Club, Churchland Soccer League, DC Stoddert Soccer League, Fauquier County Soccer Club, Loudoun Youth Soccer Association, Soccer Organization of Charlottesville-Albemarle, Virginia Rush, Blue Ridge Classic League, National Capital Soccer League, Old Dominion Soccer League, SOCA Skyline Soccer League, and Washington Area Girls Soccer League. A quorum was established.

President Denise Edwards presented a proposed amendment to the bylaws that was timely submitted for approval (Attachment A). Denise explained the proposed amendment. A motion was made and seconded to approve the proposed bylaw amendment. It was suggested that the amendment take effect September 1, 2007, because the current travel team registration system does not allow additions that will change the balance of the majority of players. It was noted that the amendment, if approved, could take effect immediately as long as members acknowledge that current rosters may show pen and ink changes since the current online system cannot allow changes. The motion passed by unanimous vote. The bylaw amendment takes effect immediately.

It was suggested that the workshop registration fee for players be reduced to allow for younger, future members of clubs and leagues to learn what is offered at workshop sessions. The Finance Committee will consider the suggestion during budget preparation.

There being no further business, the Semi Annual General Meeting was adjourned at 2:10 pm.
