When the Board returned from Executive Session, it was announced that Lisa Wilson had been selected as Volunteer of the Year. Cassandra Ferrari and Brian LaPierre were selected as Young Referees of the Year.
STATE ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT
State Administrator Julie Caramanica reported that she has received many calls regarding VYSA’s decision to allow the release of player passes regardless of financial obligations the player may have to the team or club. She noted that there may be a request for the Board to reconsider the issue.
Registrations for the US Youth Soccer Workshop need to be made. All those planning to attend should contact Julie no later than December 8, 2006. VYSA Officers planning to attend the US Soccer AGM should also contact Julie for registration and room reservations for that event.
Julie noted that airline reservations will now be handled through a different travel agent. Those needing airline reservations must respond by the deadlines given in order to keep the cost of airfare within budgeted amounts. President Denise Edwards told Board members that those who do not meet the deadline will not be authorized to attend.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Technical Director Gordon Miller reported that Sam Snow will be attending this year’s workshop to conduct sessions on coaching. Also attending is Mike Dempsey, U13–16 Youth Academy Director for Manchester United.
Paul O’Connell added that he had recently met Paul McGinnis, the U16-U17 Academy Director for Manchester United.
ADJUDICATION COMMITTEE REPORT
Adjudication Committee Chair Ray Greenberg reported an appeal has been filed to the US Soccer Federation Appeals Committee for a player that was suspended by VYSA. Ray has submitted his report to the Appeals Committee along with his response to the items in the appeal. He noted the parent was quite unhappy with his response. VYSA will wait to hear from the Federation of the Appeals Committee’s decision.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
President Denise Edwards was presented plaques for hosting the Region I Championships. She asked the plaques be hung in the State Office.
Denise also reported that she attended a Region I meeting in September regarding ODP,
and that Region I has hired Jay Hoffman as the new Boys ODP Head Coach.
GOOD OF THE GAME
Paul O’Connell commented on the Young Male Referee of the Year, noting that he has remained as a recreational player choosing not to move to the travel program.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:35 pm.
