This past weekend, 35 first-round matches were played around the state as VYSA’s elite teams began the quest to become the Virginia State Champions of the USYS National Championship Series, the most competitive and prestigious youth soccer competition in the Nation.

Today we will highlight the 16U age group with additional age groups being recognized throughout the week.

Week 1 saw 24 of Virginia’s most elite 16UB sides in action and they did not disappoint for well-played competitive matches! Some highlights include VA Rush who topped VLSC CCL 2-0 to advance and will take on #1 seed BRYC Elite Academy. Woodbridge SC came out a winner in a tight match against FCR Magic and will meet #4 seed Loudoun Red in Round 2. Beach FC Red advances to take on #3 seed Alexandria Red and the Reston Cyclones bested NVSC CCL and will face #2 seed Arlington Red this coming weekend. For more scores and Round 2 matchups go HERE.

On the girls’ side, Roanoke Star defeated FFC Black 2-0 and will meet #1 seed Loudoun Red in Round 2 while the Reston Renegades spoiled a potential inter-club Round 2 match by defeating the LMVS Patriots White and will meet #3 seed LMVS Patriots Red on Saturday. VLSC CCL topped McLean Green 2-0 and will face #2 seed Beach FC Red in this coming Saturday’s Round 2 action. For more info on 16UG Round 2 match times and locations go HERE.
