Paul Shaw, VYSA Coaching Education Director will teach fun games to use in training for our young players.

Matt Badiee, VYSA Assistant Technical Director, will teach a field session on small group defending.

9:00 - 10:00 am Attacking Options: Going to Goal - Gordon Miller
Gordon Miller, VYSA Technical Director, will focus on the different movements and runs of the attackers and the midfielders in the attacking third of the field and ways the midfielders can combine with the strikers and different movements that attackers can use to lose defenders and strike effectively on goal.
10:30 - 11:30 am A Liverpool Session for the Senior Player - John Owens
John Owens of Liverpool FC will guide the older players through a typical session that you might see on the training fields at Liverpool’s Youth Academy. He will take the team through a warmup, developmental phase and end in a match, all the while maintaining high demands that are necessary to play at the highest level.
2:00 - 3:00 pm Maintaining Ball Possession Utilizing Liverpool Methods - John Owens
Liverpool has always been known as a team that looks after the ball. They have a long and storied reputation of playing ini a respected and successful manner. John will run a training session on how to keep the ball both individually and collectively in a group.
3:30 - 4:30 pm Teaching Flair and Creativity for the Individual Player - Rene Miramontes
Rene Miramontes, full time US Soccer Federation National Coach, fluent in English and Spanish, will focus on the development of the individual player and how they acquire creativity. The activities will be designed to teach flair and allow the individuals to maximize his/her impact on the field in a group setting.
NOTE: This session will be conducted in Spanish.

Give Me the Blueprint for Player Development - Gary Allen

This session will talk about both the positives and negatives of placing players in travel soccer at a young age. Gary will also go into detail about the qualities, benefits, and detrimentsof tournament play and how players should progress through the player development.
Can the Hispanic Player Make the Difference? - Rene Miramontes
2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Room E24a
Rene Miramontes will discuss the qualities of the Hispanic player and how they differ from other players. He will talk about what to look for in player identification and will discuss in length the differences in communication styles. He will discuss the differences in training the Hispanic player in order to maximize player performance. NOTE: This session will be conducted in Spanish.
Learn to be a More Powerful Player - Pat McCloskey
3:30 pm - 4:30 pm Room E24a
This session will be part practical and part lecure. Pat will go over the most up to date training techniques that are designed to maximize soccer performance. He will give practical demonstrations that will increase power, strength, speed and flexibility. His methods are being used at major soccer clubs around the world.
