Is there a special coach you would like to be recognized for his or her work with our players?  Is there an Administrator that has been especially helpful in making soccer run smoothly in your organization?  Is there a special volunteer that has gone above and beyond to share his or her time and talents with your team or club?  Is there someone working in a TOPsoccer program with our players with disabilities that deserves recognition?  If your answer is yes to any of these, please nominate the individual for one of the many awards given to dedicated individuals each year for their contributions in different areas of VYSA.

Each year VYSA holds a convention (formerly called Workshop) that features presentations from leaders in soccer throughout the US.  This year’s VYSA Soccer Convention is scheduled for January 22, 23, 2010.  It will be held at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Arlington Virginia.  Coaching demonstrations and lectures, Referee lectures, Administrative sessions, and General Soccer related sessions are being planned.  The convention features an Awards Luncheon where presentations to those who have made special contributions to VYSA in many areas this past year will be made.  Please plan to attend to learn the latest in youth soccer and to honor those who have been selected for these awards.  See article above on awards and how to submit nominations. 

Applications for the Fall 2009 Presidents Cup for U13 and U14 Boys and Girls teams are available.  Teams interested in competing in the VYSA Presidents Cup in this new event are encouraged to go to the VYSA web site Presidents Cup page for information and an application.  Applications are due by October 1, 2009.

Registration Packets were mailed to each VYSA member club and league in August.  Fall player registration fees are due October 1, 2009 for all players registered as of September for the 2009 Fall season.  Insurances certificates will not be available until registrations fees are received at the VYSA State Office.  Fees for players registered after the initial payment are due the first of each month thereafter. 

If your club or league did not receive a registration packet, please contact the State Office and another will be sent to you.  The packet contains a registration information letter, registration forms, and a directory page for your organization.   Please use the form when sending payment and if you have not already done so, return the updated directory page so we have the correct contact information. 

Registration data packets were mailed this week to all VYSA Recreational Clubs.  Information on what is required, how to submit the data and due dates is included.  Clubs who use Demosphere International will not be required to submit data, as it will be automatically included in the VYSA database.  However, the data must be complete and accurate by the deadline.  Clubs who use other providers will be required to submit data by November 1, 2009. 

League data is collected through the VYSA Online Travel Registration system used to create player passes and rosters. Therefore, league data submission is not required.

All clubs and leagues are required to comply with the VYSA Background Check Policy.  Each VYSA member is required to report to VYSA that background checks on their coaches, assistant coaches, volunteers, Board members and staff have been completed.  The deadline for submission of KidSafe compliance is December 1, 2009.  The VYSA KidSafe Background Check Policy and Background Check Procedures for Rec  and Background Check Procedures for Travel are posted on the VYSA web site.
