  • On Line Travel Registration - This session will give an opportunity for managers and club representatives to learn more about the online travel system.
  • US Youth Soccer: Present and Future- Larry Monaco, President of US Youth Soccer, will talk about US Youth Soccer, it’s programs, activities, new programs and challenges.
  • Contractor or Employee - This session will explain the distinctions between individuals being classified as Contractor or Employee for tax purposes.
  • Insurance, VYSA Policy Coverage - A representative from Bollinger Insurance will explain what is covered under the VYSA Liability and Supplemental Medical policy and what clubs and tournaments should seek to get on their own.
  • Goal Safety - VYSA Board Member Paul O’Connell and Mike Sidlak of MSYSA will discuss ways to prevent accidents involving goals.
  • Risk Management - Mike Sidlak of Maryland Youth Soccer will join VYSA to share his knowledge about the Risk Management program with a specific focus on concussion awareness.
  • Background Checks - How to use the system and what to do when something is discovered in a background check.
  • Team Managers Workshop - This session will explain the responsibilities of being a travel team manager from preparing player passes and rosters, and getting permission to travel to preparing for each seasonal years activities.
  • When to Hold and How to Conduct a Hearing - This session will explain the jurisdiction of clubs and VYSA and how to properly conduct a hearing .
  • Futsol - A representative from the US Futsol Association will be invited to speak to VYSA members on Futsol.
  • Using Your Head to Play Championship Soccer- Dr. Alan Goldberg, a well known Sports Psychologist,  will join VYSA to share his expertise in working with players for peak performance.
  • Parents from Hell - Getting Parents to Work With You, Not Against You- Dr. Alan Goldberg will hold a second session on how coaches teach parents to work with them not against them.
  • Components of a Successful Rec Program - VYSA Board Members Bob Maynes and Roger Underhill will discuss ways to run a successful recreational program in your club.
  • Recreational Soccer Program - VYSA Recreational Commissioners will share their combined expertise in working with Rec Coaches.
  • Building and Maintaining a Soccer Complex - Karen Knott of Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach and John Burrill, Executive Director of Massachusetts Youth Soccer will team up to do a presentation sharing their experience in building and running a soccer complex.
  • Recreational Academies:  What  They Are and How to Set Them Up - Bob Maynes, VYSA Recreational Committee Chair will explaing the academy concept and how to create a successful program.

  1. A Liverpool Session for the Senior Player - John Owens of Liverpool FC, will guide the older players through a typical session that you might see on the training fields at Liverpool’s Youth Academy.  He will atake the team through a warmup, developmental phase and end in a match,  all the while maintaining high demands that are necessary to play at the highest level.
  2. Maintaining Ball Possession Utilizing Liverpool Methods - John Owens of Liverpool FC.  Liverpool has always been known as a team that looks after the ball.  they have a long and storied reputation of playing in a respected and successful manner.  John will run a training session on how to keep the ball both individually and collectively in a group.
  3. Teaching Flair and Creativity for the Individual Player - Rene Miramontes, full time US Soccer Federation National Coach, fluent in English and Spanish, will focus on the development of the individual player and how they acquire creativity.  Teh activities will be designed to teach flair and allow the individual to maximize his/her impact on the field ina group setting.
  4. Coaching Female Soccer Players, Are There Any Differences? - Sue Ryan, US Youth Soccer Region I Girls Head Coach will run a variety of activities and low organizational games with the girls.  These activities will be designed to maximize invlovement and skill acquisition in a fun format.  Detail in the activities as well as the communication style will be highlighted. 
  5. Attacking Options Going to Goal - Gordon Miller, VYSA Technical Director, will focus on the different movements and runs of the attackers and the midfielders in the attacking thrid of the field and ways the midfielders can combine with the strikers and different movements that attackers can use to lose defenders and strike effectively on goal.

  1. World Cup Germany 2006 - Greg Barkey, FIFA Assistant Referee
    A look behind the scenes of what it takes to survive the preparation,selection and participation in a WorldCup.Travel with Greg along his journey to referee in Germany
  2. Angles/Spaces, The Real Game - Bill Dittmar, MLS Assistant Referee
    What a referee needs to look at during the game. Positioning, Tactics, players movement, ball movement etc.
  3. Handling, Hands On - Greg Barkey, FIFA Assistant Referee
    Proper interpretation of handling from the youth to international level. Film clips help clear up any misunderstanding. Great session  for all levels of referees and coaches
  4. The New/Old Referee Academies/Pre-Game/Professionalism - Andrew Chapin, MLS Referee, Jim Conlee, National Referee
    If you want to upgrade and become a Nat’l referee, then this session is for you. Look at how to be a professional, give a proper pregame and take a look at the "new" academies and how to get to the Nat’l level.
