Thank you for your interest in the VYSA Developmental Olympic Development Program (D-ODP.) Your interest in the program is the result of your commitment, hard work, and potential as a player.
The mission and goals of the D-ODP are to provide players an additional high level of training and development. There will be a heavy emphasis placed on skill work, individual technical enhancement and flair with the ball. We believe the foundation of the game lies in the execution and mastery of the ball. There is no tactic, nor system of play that cover up the inability to control or pass a ball effectively. The best players in the world are outstanding technical players that spent hours and hours with the ball.
D-ODP pools will train in their respective districts so the driving distances and time in the car is drastically reduced.  Please do not attempt to tryout in a district in which you will not be training!
Players are expected to show up to training on time and be properly prepared to train to include their dress, equipment, water, and character. Players are expected to communicate and discuss any difficulties they have with their D-ODP coach.
Fall tryout/identification for all players takes place during the designated tryout weekend for your district.  If you choose to register your player for this program, our coaching staff would need to evaluate your player and identify them to participate in the training pool.  Identification fees for D-ODP are $30 online and $50 onsite.
After the online tryout window is closed, onsite registration will be available the day of the session.  Please arrive 30 minutes early for onsite registration.
Once a player has been identified, they will be added to the D-ODP training pool for their district.  There are 10 training sessions a player is expected to attend.  More information regarding training can be found by choosing your district on the left!  There is an additional training fee should your player accept their invitation to join training.
Once you commit to the program it is expressly understood by all players and their parents/guardians that once accepted to the program they are responsible for all fees associated with the program. No refunds will be given once accepted to the program should a player elect not to participate.  Failure to remit payment for any fees associated with the program can result in your player’s suspension from their home club!
Additional information will be communicated to the players by their administrator.  Please contact your District Administrator for further details.
Again, thank you for your interest in D-ODP.

VYSA Technical Director

VYSA Announces Innovative Program for U12, U11, & U10 Players

Developmental ODP (D-ODP) Launched!

The Virginia Youth Soccer Association is pleased to announce an innovative new program designed for U12, U11, and U10 players, both boys and girls. Developmental ODP or D-ODP is a new and exciting state-wide program that will replace the successful VYSA Academy and is designed to allow younger players the opportunity to be trained by many of the top coaches on the VYSA state staff and to be exposed to the best practices that the Olympic Development Program employs.
D- ODP will train players and expose them to the benefits of US Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program. Not only will there be quality training with other high-level players in your district but there will also be an opportunity to compete with and against the better players from around the state and Region I (Region I encompasses 15 states in the Northeast part of the US).
VYSA’s Technical Director Gordon Miller commented saying, “It will be good to get the younger players into this new program where we can start to identify and train them using the same high-quality techniques and age specific training practices that we’ve been employing in the ODP for years now. It will give them a taste of what the expectations are at the highest level in the state.”
