VYSA Coaching Education Instructors

Each instructor of the VYSA Coaching Education Staff will hold either an US Soccer ’A’ or US Soccer ’B’ License, will be experienced in the practical application of the National Youth License and have successfully completed an apprentice program.

Change to the US Soccer "D" License

Beginning January 1, 2013, waivers into the D License Course will NO LONGER be accepted. Even if a coach has a previously-approved waiver, it will no longer be considered valid.

Holding the US Soccer “E” Certificate/License for a minimum of six months will be the only prerequisite for the “D” course. US Soccer is currently updating and making revisions to improve the “D” License course. Please check back frequently for updates.

Also beginning January 1, 2013, fees for the D Course will increase to $160 for members and  $210 for non-members.

US Youth Soccer Player Development Model Released
US Youth Soccer Player Development Model Released
US Youth Soccer is excited to announce the release of the Player Development Model, which provides a curriculum for clubs from the Under-6 to Under-19 age groups. The curriculum is designed to serve as a standard to guide each of US Youth Soccer's 55 member State Associations and more than 5,500 clubs on how to effectively train athletes of all levels and abilities.

"The US Youth Soccer Player Development Model was a team effort by coaches and administrators from across the United States," said Sam Snow, US Youth Soccer Director of Coaching. "It will provide not only direction for age appropriate training and matches, but will also give the facts behind the developmental format. I'm confident the Player Development Model will prove to be useful to soccer clubs of every size and level of play for many years to come."

The Player Development Model features a simple structure to guide all coaches through the steps of strategically training players and preparing for matches. For ease of application, the model is broken into sections for preteen and teenaged players. When used in conjunction with the US Youth Soccer Vision and Skills School Manual, the Player Development Model will provide clubs of all levels guidance and information to assist their coaches and players.

New Fee Schedule beginning September 1, 2014

The 2014-2015 VYSA budget approved by the VYSA Membership this past June was approved with an increase in Coaching Education course fees.  In addition, VYSA subsidizes the cost of Coaching Education, which results in reduced course fees.  As a result, there is a greater fee for non VYSA members (those who are not members of a VYSA member organization, regardless of residence).

The cost of VYSA Coaching Education courses as of September 1, 2014, is as follows:

Coaching Education Course

Member fee

Non-member fee

F Certificate course (per module)

E License course
